I wanna backup my Blu-ray collection to use on Plex. I know MKV can keep the best quality and fit on Plex. So, any software for me to rip Blu-ray to MKV for Plex playback easily?
Actually, I have been a DVDFab user for years. All of a sudden, the product does not work. I tried to install on a newer system and different issues come up. Below is the guide that I process to backup my Blu-ray to MKV for Plex.
Rip Blu-ray to MKV for Plex Media Server
1. Import Blu-ray movies > Run the Blu-ray ripper and import Blu-ray disc. Soon after loading, you will find all titles and chapters for the Blu-ray disc. You can only choose the main movie for conversion.
2. Choose output format > Click Format bar and select output format. To convert Blu-ray to MKV, you can select “Common Video”. Of course, MP4 is also a ideal format for Plex.
Note: Plex just plays the MP4/MKV files with H.264 video codec and AAC audio, you need to click the Settings icon to set the correct video, audio codecs.
3. Start the Blu-ray to MKV conversion > Click the Convert button under the preview window to start converting Blu-ray to MKV format. After the conversion, click “Open” to locate the result .mkv videos and then you can playback with Plex smoothly.
